In welding operations, metal elements and flux coatings & cores in the filler metals will bring various harmful substances and welding fumes because of the high-temperature welding arcs, which endanger the health of welders. The most common occupational diseases for welder's are pneumoconiosis and metal fume fever. The main form of transmission of these harms is through inhalation of welding fume into the lungs. The following are the specific manifestations of several welder occupational diseases:
① Welder's pneumoconiosis -the inhaling of a lot of mixed smoke and toxic gases such as silicon, silicate, manganese, chromium, fluoride, metal oxides, nitrogen oxides and ozone, will causes diffuse and fibrous lesions in the lungs.
② Manganese poisoning—early symptoms are fatigue, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, poor memory and autonomic dysfunction, such as slight tremors in the tongue, eyelids and fingers, and difficulty in turning around and squatting down.
③ Metal fume fever——The main symptoms are chills after welding work, followed by fever, fatigue, metallic taste in the mouth, nausea, itchy throat, dyspnea, chest pain, loss of appetite, etc.
④ Toxic gas hazard:
A. Ozone -it has a strong stimulating effect on the human respiratory tract and lungs.
B. Nitrogen oxides - they have a stimulating effect on the lungs
C. Hydrogen fluoride poisoning - immediate irritation of the eyes, nose and respiratory mucosa. Long-term exposure can produce bone lesions
